China, Oil and Global Politics

This is a joint project with Philip Andrews-Speed of the Centre for Energy, Minerals and Petroleum Law and Policy, University of Dundee. In 2003, we published an Adelphi Paper for the International Institute for Strategic Studies entitled ‘The Strategic Implications of China’s Energy Needs’ which was one of the first analyses of China’s energy-driven global expansion and the implications for international politics. We have now updated this study and expanded it into a book-length monograph which was published by Routledge in May 2011.
